Judges in all disciplines need to see that effort has been put into the presentation of a show horse. One reason for learning how to exhibit your horse properly is that the more effort you put in, the more blue (first place) ribbons and championships you will win.

These results you achieve in the show ring will appear on your horse’s record with its registered association. If they win State, National and World Championships, they are then known to have ‘credentials’. If you are competing with a horse that you intend to use for breeding, the foal is born to a credentialed dam (mother) or sire (father) or both and is worth a lot more than a foal born to uncredentialed parents.

By educating yourself on how to present your horse well, learning how to train and feed your horse properly, then you will achieve better results and your horse will be worth more money.

As you win awards, you will gain more self-esteem. The higher the achievement, the more confident you will grow. This is a great reason to educate yourself, learn showmanship and gain presence in the ring. As you gain this experience, you can then teach others how to achieve great results. If you become good at it, you can teach clinics and earn money, or charge competitors for your services such as plaiting or putting in false tails etc. at horse shows. People are always needing help with presenting their horses and are willing to pay for the help.
